On Jan.18th, ZEHO ECO held the first Marine Business International Seminar in Beijing. Based on the United Nations “Decade of Oceans”, this seminar focused on the international trend in marine ecological restoration, the layout and preliminary practice of ZEHO ECO marine business, and the long-term expansion and prospect of the marine field, and carried out in-depth discussions through the combination of online and offline.

Liu Zhenghua, Deputy Director of the Third Oceanographic Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources/APEC Marine Sustainable Development Center, Yu Weiwei, Researcher of the Third Oceanographic Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Senior Researcher of the Netherlands Delta, Ye Qinghua, Project Leader of China, Zhang Zhiwei, Co-founder of Urbanene Urban Gene, Expert of the Asian Investment Bank, Zheng Nengshi, Founder of PADDI Environmental Consulting in Germany, Zhenghe Ecological Director, Yang Bo, Vice President of AECOM China, Director of ZEHO ECO, Ren Yufen, a researcher of the Ecological Environment Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting, and Zhang Yijun, chairman of ZEHO ECO, all members of the marine business team, the Institute of Sustainable Development and other group leaders participated in the whole process of discussion.

The seminar was chaired by Xing Lei, president of ZEHO ECO Technology Committee, and Kong Linghua, president of marine ecological business, made a keynote report on domestic and foreign policy trends and ZEHO ECO marine business layout. Kong Linghua introduced that the company will focus on the development of marine business based on the concept of NbS, focusing on three categories of L2 products, including beach renovation and restoration, coastal dynamic landscape corridor, and marine ecological housekeeper, as well as L3 products such as seawall ecological renovation, salt marsh wetland restoration, mangrove restoration, coral reef cultivation, subtidal habitat construction, and beach ecological restoration, to build an international marine technology cooperation platform, Focus on the transformation and application of marine scientific and technological achievements. It is expected to solve the problems of China’s coastal ecosystem with an international perspective and location.

Subsequently, experts and scholars at the meeting took “practicing marine science” as the theme, and exchanged views on how to help achieve the goals of the United Nations “Decade of the Oceans”, including scientific and technological innovation, marine ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation, and international cooperation. It also discussed the application scenarios of new marine science and technology, such as pilot bases, new materials of marine biology, high-end equipment, and discussed the new model of marine industrialization development from the perspective of marine safety and marine ecological integration.

Finally, the participants exchanged wishes for the New Year, and the meeting concluded successfully in a happy holiday atmosphere.
